Lassen County Seeks Smelter for Uranium
Many Claims Filed In Recent Weeks

Increased interest in mining occasioned by the uranium properties development in Lassen County has caused a large increase in the number of mining claims filed in the office of the county recorder.
Lassen County Chamber of Commerce and Susanville Chamber of Commerce have requested representatives at Sacramento to introduce a resolution asking the federal government to establish a smelter in the south Lassen county area, the Lassen Advocate reports.
Recently, the Nevada legislature approved a resolution asking the federal government to establish a smelter in the state. Local chamber officials feel that with the many developments now being made in this area that the logical place for such a smelter location would be Lassen county.
