Visitors Inspect New Susanville Industry
March 6, 1937
Today the Lassen Hatchery held open house. Visitors were shown the processes through which eggs must go to reach the incubator, and the period of 21 days it takes for the chick to break through its shell; and view the premises and see the breeding stocks in the yards.
The hatchery, located at 133 Russell avenue and operated by Max and Emmet McCarthy, is a new industry in this county.
Their output is 2,000 baby chicks a week and a ready market is found in local producers.
