Lassen Residents Receive Awards in Photo Contest
November 7, 1936


Five Lassen County residents received awards in the recent annual photographic contest of the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland Association held in connection with the convention at Klamath Falls in October.

In the professional class, J.H. Eastman of Susanville won three first places; first, in the scenery division with a beauty study of the Cinder Cone in Lassen Park. His photograph of a chipmunk in its native surroundings took first place in the wildlife class, and his colored photograph of Burney Falls was awarded first place in that class.

In the amateur class, Thomas Kuykendall, Camp Halls Flat, Westwood, took second place in the Recreation Division with ”stunts.”

Pat Gomez of Westwood also received second award in the scenery division with his picture entitled Mt. Lassen “Hat Creek” entered under Wonders of the Wonderland, brought Dale Thomas, Westwood, a third place.

The Lassen County Council received the award for the largest number of qualified prints entered.
