PG&E is experiencing difficulty with some of their equipment. Because of this LMUD cannot estimate a time for restoration. We will post more information as it becomes
PG&E is working to restore power to their transmission system. There is not yet an estimated time for power restoration.
Because of the unexpected nature of the shutdown, Honey Lake Power was also shut off in accordance with standard safety protocol.
LMUD’s phone system was temporarily unavailable on the onset of the outage. Phones have been restored at this time.
6:07a.m.
LMUD explains that they are still waiting for PG&E to update them on the status of the Caribou transmission line.
If the line is given “the all clear” (which they expect to take 3 to 4 hours), power will be restored to the system.
“If the line is found to be damaged and cannot be energized,” explains Spokesperson Theresa Phillips, “we will attempt the islanding process with HLP. Please keep in mind that due to the nature of this outage and the fact that it caused HLP to be unexpectedly taken offline, the process is difficult and time consuming.”
As a proactive measure, crews are preparing for islanding should it become necessary. We will post the latest information on this situation as it becomes available.
UPDATE 3:00 AM:
PG&E will begin patrolling Caribou transmission lines at first light. We will update with more information when it becomes available.
At approx. 10:47 PM on 10/27/19 LMUD experienced a system wide outage. PG&E transmission lines were unexpectedly deenergized causing loss of power to LMUD.
This was not a planned PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event.
PG&E is working to restore power to their transmission system. There is not yet an estimated time for power restoration.

12:10a.m. LMUD is experiencing a system wide outage. The utility is citing a loss of source power from PG&E. There is no estimated time of restoration.
According to PGandE this is unrelated to the Public Safety Shut Offs currently affecting other areas of northern California.
