Local Sock Drive Underway to Support Seniors, Homeless and Families in Crisis

Students Turn 4 Greatness are trying to collect 2,000 pair of new socks between now and October 30th

As the weather turns starkly cold a local organization is raising money and collecting socks for area senior citizens, the homeless and families in crisis. Students Turn 4 Greatness is collecting new socks at three locations in Susanville between now and October 30th as part of their My Brother’s Socks campaign.

“The #1 requested item by people in need are socks,” explains sock drive organizer Elizabeth Darley, “Unfortunately it’s the least donated item.”

“Our team at Students Turn 4 Greatness want to change that here in Lassen County.”

The group hopes to collect 2,000 pair of men’s, women’s and children’s socks which will be distributed to Lassen Family Services, the Salvation Army, the Westwood One-Stop Center and the Herlong One-Stop.

You can drop off socks during the drive at Billington Ace Hardware, Margie’s Book Nook or WalMart.
