Because of weather concerns event organizers have moved the 4th Annual Walk A Mile in Their Shoes indoors to the Industrial Building at the Lassen County Fair Grounds.

In commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 2nd – 8th, Lassen Family Services, along with the Child Abuse Prevention Council and Child and Family Services are sponsoring the 4th Annual Walk-A-Mile-In-Their-Shoes and Chili Cook-Off this Saturday, April 8th, from 9:00 to 2:00p.m. at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. All event activities are free to the public.

The theme this year is Strength, Resilience and Justice and the community event is designed to raise awareness of the devastating impact crime has on individuals, families and communities.

Opening ceremonies will be held in the Industrial Building at 10:00a.m., where the recipient of the Art and Empathy in Education award will be named. Attendees will hear from LFS Director Peter Celum, Pastor John Murdock, survivor Casey Simoni and Susanville Mayor Kathie Garnier.

The walk, will start shortly thereafter, ending back at the fairgrounds where information booths hosted by more than 20 local agencies and the Chili Cook-Off will be held.

Participation in Walk-A-Mile is free and you can click here to register online. The first 500 registrants get a commemorative T-Shirt.
