Marc Jarrett October 23, 1963 – September 10, 2021
Marc Jarrett, 57, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2021. Marc was born to Everett and Ruby Jarrett on October 23, 1963 in San Jose, California. Marc was married to his loving wife Jennifer and together they had four children Judson, Andrew, Mitchell and Katheryn, and two grandchildren Sam and Kaelan.
To know Mark is to know he treasured his family and friends. His favorite role was Husband, Dad and Papa. Marc cherished his wife of 29 years and always strived to make her happy. His children were the stars in his eyes and he loved spending time with them. His family was his sanctuary.
Marc was also a devoted brother to his sister, Lorna Jarrett Blanchard, a loving Uncle to his niece, Alannah, and nephew David. When his sister and brother-in-law, Wayne, had to take their daughter for another surgery or hospital visit, Marc would fly to the east coast to take care of his nephew and his mom Ruby. Marc and Lorna were close; they were each other’s confidant, sounding board, sparring partner and truly best friends.
Marc’s strong work ethic and love of fairness and justice led him to become a Peace Officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in 1988. During his tenure at California Correctional Center, Marc worked in the Camp Division where he served at Eel River, High Rock Conservation Camp, Ishi Conservation Camp and Konocti Conservation Camp. Marc promoted to Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2006 and Captain in 2014. Marc retired in 2016.
Through his work, Marc met many individuals and cultivated lifelong friendships throughout the state. He touched many lives. It is that gift of deep caring, a keen intellect and loyalty he gave to many friends, he was a rock they could lean on.
In his retirement, Marc enjoyed lending a hand to his two sons who lived locally. Marc had a passion for traveling ot places like Disney World and Mexico. In his spare time, he kept busy being a carpenter and woodworker and took great pleasure in cooking holiday feasts and big family dinners. His newest little love, his grandson Kaelan, kept him busy and smiling.
Marc will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Marc is survived by his wife, Jennifer; sons, Judson, Andrew and Mitchell; daughter Katheryn; sister, Lorna; brother-in-law Wayne; niece Alannah; nephew David; and grandchildren, Sam and Kaelan.
