Mark Your Calendar: Taste of Beef, Sip of Wine This Saturday

For nearly three decades the Lassen County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen have hosted one of Susanville’s premiere events, the annual ‘Taste of Beef, Sip of Wine’ fundraiser with proceeds benefiting local youth activities, scholarships and agriculture in the classroom.

The evening includes mouthwatering beef appetizers, hand picked quality wines and a silent auction packed with some incredible items along with a gun draw, beef carving stations and wine pull.

To keep the hors d’oeuvres fresh and exciting, the Cattlewomen host a Cow-A-Bunga Contest each year during their November meeting.  According to Leona Parker, wine tasting event chairperson, Cow-A-Bunga is a friendly competition where the CattleWomen compete to create a new beef hors d’oeuvre to be served at the event.

This year’s winner was Rosanne Comino and her winning appetizer was Greek Beef Bites which will be featured at this year’s event.

Back by popular demand are the carving stations that include a selection of different cuts of beef that are marinated and cooked to perfection, including a taco bar and a tri-tip sandwich station.

Known as one of the must attend events of the year, the beef and wine tasting event is scheduled from 6:00 to 9:00p.m., Saturday, March 4th at the Susanville Elks Lodge.

A wide selection of wines will be served including wines from the Napa Valley as well as other wine producing regions.  Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon will be on hand serving their locally brewed micro-beer. In addition to fine wine, event-goers will find a wide array of beef appetizers.

Those who attend will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for a chance to win a variety of quality items.

Proceeds raised from this annual event support local youth activities, scholarships, and agriculture in the classroom. Because of the success of last year’s event the Cattlewomen were able to give $4,450.00 to Lassen County students furthering their education.

For more information about the event you can call the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce at 257-4323.

Pre-sale tickets are $30 each and are available at the Chamber office, the Pardner Farm Supply or any Cattlewomen. Tickets at the door will be $35 each. You must be 21 years old to attend.
