The Susanville Police Officer’s Association will be hosting an elegant night of dining and dancing with a spooky Halloween twist October 29th, at the Elk’s Lodge, with proceeds from the fundraiser benefitting the association’s Shop with a Cop program in December.
Along with dining and dancing the 3rd annual Policeman’s Ball will include a silent auction and, for the first time, the Police Officer’s Association will be giving away a ‘Home Town Hero’ award.
“The award will go to a member of the community who provides any sort of service or act that strengthens our community and improves the lives of others,” explains event organizer Terra Avilla. “We are very excited to be able to recognize one of the many outstanding members of our community.”
There will be costume contests for the most creative, scariest and best couples costume. Even though the ball is a costume party, there will be masquerade masks available for those who want to use the event, as in past years, as an excuse to dress up!
The ball is a fundraiser for the Shop with a Cop program and every dollar made helps make the Christmas a little brighter for local children.
“We are really excited about the event as each year it grows and we obtain more awesome items for the auction,” said Avilla, “and this year we have more officers to auction off!”
Guests, according to Avilla, can expect a thrilling evening full of fun, dancing and fundraising.
The Policeman’s Ball starts at 6:00p.m. and tickets, which always sell out early, are $30 each (which includes dinner) until October 1st when prices rise to $35. Tickets can be purchased online, from any SPOA member or you can come into the Police Department at 1801 Main Street during business hours.
