Meet Susanville’s latest contribution to the world of reality television! He’s Glen Parshall, Lassen High class of 1974 graduate, and one of the stars of the History Channel’s Real Deal TV show.
The program, which airs on the History Channel each Friday evening at 11:00 and 11:30p.m., focuses on the high-pressure, drama-filled interactions between buyers and sellers as they haggle over pieces of history.
Parshall has been a pawnbroker, historian and self-described wheeler-dealer for the past 30 years. He currently manages Bargain Pawn in Las Vegas, where he specializes in coins, currency and historical items.
This 13th-generation American, and former Susanville resident, began buying and selling coins while still in high school. Before getting into the pawn business, Glen was in the aerospace industry and got the chance to work on the space shuttle. He loves offbeat, strange and eclectic items most people would overlook, as well as anything with a real historical feel.
He is easy to spot on the show, as Parshall himself says, he is the ‘santa-looking one.’
