Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from late Sunday night through Monday morning.
Here in Susanville and the Honey Lake Valley, along with both rural and urban areas across western Nevada and eastern California, we can expect widespread sub-freezing temperatures.
Valley lows are expected to range from 20 to 30 degrees and mountain valleys will dip well into the teens.
Weather experts say that if the forecast pans out this would be the first hard freeze of the fall season for many people. Over the next couple days they recommend preparing by harvesting any remaining garden plants, protecting other sensitive vegetation and winterizing irrigation systems.
A Freeze Watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible with at least medium forecast confidence. This is a heads-up of a possible freeze. Forecast changes remain possible over the next couple days.
