NWS Weather Bulletin: Next Round of Heavy Snow Begins This Evening

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Storm Warning as another round of heavy snow is expected to arrive later today and last through Monday night.

Forecasters expect snow, becoming heavy at times this evening into early Monday morning. Here is Susanville additional snow accumulations will be between 3 and 6 inches, with 12 to 20 inches forecast west of Highway 395 including Portola.

40 to 60mph wind gusts are also in the forecast, bringing dangerous blowing and drifting snow with low visibility.

The Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 1:00a.m. Tuesday.

Snow intensity will let up some in the Sierra today although blowing and drifting snow will continue to make travel dangerous. Strong winds will also bring significant impacts to aviation and high-profile vehicles areawide.

Snow picks up again tonight in the Sierra with heavy snow and near whiteout conditions through Monday.
