The warning will be in effect until 9:00pm today for much of eastern California and western Nevada from the US-395 corridor eastward.
Isolated thunderstorms will develop this morning and become scattered by afternoon. Thunderstorms will start dry and transition to hybrid wet/dry storms in the afternoon.
Gusts up to 50mph are possible near any thunderstorms.
Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity.
Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.
Follow local fire restrictions. Check weather.gov/reno for updates and livingwithfire.info for preparedness tips.
