Lassen Family Service’s 11th annual Walk-A-Mile event, along with the 2nd annual run of the 5K fundraiser, attracted a big crowd of folks who enjoyed a beautiful Saturday in the park while showing their support for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse.

Resource booths from more than a dozen agencies and organizations stretched across the length of the park, with fun family activities and information for everyone.

LFS Executive Director Angela Reed opened the ceremony which included a remembrance of the various Native American tribes who have made their ancestral homes here, a proclamation reading by Susanville Mayor Mendy Schuster, a talk by Lassen County’s District Attorney Melyssah Rios and a presentation by volunteers from Lassen Resiliency.

Walkers followed a path up North Street from the park, turning left and heading to Main Street on Weatherlow, down Main to Grand Avenue and back to the park.

Along with everything else, there was music from DJ Michael Vaquera.

LFS hosts the walk annually at the end of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week to raise awareness and to provide information on the support services offered in Lassen County.
