Police Department Warns Residents About Current Jury Duty Phone Scam

The Susanville Police Department is warning about scam phone calls, involving a fine for failing to attend Jury Duty, that are currently being received by area residents.

In the phone call, an individual impersonating a member of the Police Department claims that you have failed to report for jury duty, and that a fine needs to be paid to avoid arrest.

According to the SPD, law enforcement will never call to clear up legal fees or request payment over the phone.

Do not provide personal information, credit card information or provide any payment.

Anyone receiving one of these scam phone calls should report it to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.
