Local businesses are taking a second look at the money in the register today after multiple reports of counterfeit bills in Susanville were received by the Police Department during the last week.
According to Susanville Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the department responded to the Diamond Mountain Casino on February 21st after casino employees reported receiving three counterfeit one dollar bills.
On February 25th, officers from the department responded to Susanville Supermarket on Grand Avenue after employees reported receiving three counterfeit ten dollar bills.
On the same day employees at U.S.A. Gas on Main Street reported receiving two counterfeit ten dollar bills.
“The Susanville Police Department continues to investigate these incidents,” said Lieutenant Wood, “Citizens with information on these incidents are encouraged to please contact the Susanville Police Department office at 1801 Main Street during normal business hours or our 24 hour dispatch line at (530) 257-2171.”
