All local schools will be allowed to reopen Monday according to Lassen County’s Public Health Director Jessica Jones, and all extracurricular actives will be allowed to resume.
“The situation will be treated the same as the Flu virus at this time,” said Jones. “If the situation changes we will provide further updates.”
According to the Public Health Department, as of October 1st, 38 possible cases of viral meningitis have been reported since September 23rd. Out of those cases the department has identified 20 suspected, 9 confirmed and 9 cases where viral meningitis was ruled-out.
Jones reminded residents of recommendations for prevention of the spread of germs.
