Sheep Fire Prompts Temporary Closure of Bizz Johnson Trail

Sheep Fire The Bureau of Land Management is temporarily closing the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail to provide for firefighter access if needed to fight the Sheep Fire burning just south of Susanville.

The closure extends from the Susanville Trailhead to the Devil’s Corral Trailhead and includes the Hobo Camp Day Use Area and the South Side Trail.

The closure will be in effect until danger from the Sheep Fire subsides.

Other recreational trails in the Susanville area, including the Susanville Ranch Park and the Skyline Trail, remain open.

The BLM reminds public land visitors that campfire restrictions are now in place in northeast California. All campfires are prohibited, including in developed campgrounds and recreation sites. Portable stoves and lanterns using pressurized, liquid, or jellied fuel are allowed.

A valid California campfire permit is required, and can be obtained free at readyforwildfire.org.
