Investigators from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect who was allegedly involved in a Saturday evening shooting incident in a Westwood alley that sent one man to the hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Deputies with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 300 block of Fir Street in Westwood at around 6:30 and contacted a woman who said that, while working in her backyard, she had witnessed a black Ford Ranger towing a utility trailer pull up and park behind her neighbor’s garage in the alley.
According to the report the driver of the truck, later identified by the Sheriff’s Office as 43-year old Westwood resident Nikolas Senavsky, exited the vehicle with a handgun.
“An individual, later identified as 38-year old David “DJ” Walker, was standing near the garage, also armed with a handgun,” explains LCSO Sergeant Laura Johnson. “The two briefly exchanged gunfire and then got into their respective vehicles and fled the scene.”
As a result of the shooting, Senavsky sought treatment for his injuries at Seneca Hospital in Chester, and was later flown to Enloe Hospital in Chico.
His injuries were not life threatening and, upon his release from Enloe, he was taken into custody by the Chico Police Department. Senavsky is currently being held at the Butte County Jail until he can be transported to Lassen County. His current charges are PC 664/187, PC 245 (a)(2), PC 29800 (a)(1) and 246.3 (a).
“Deputies located numerous spent shell casings, blood evidence and video surveillance from the scene. They also conducted a canvass of the neighborhood in an effort to locate any other witnesses or victims.”
Deputies have been unable to locate David “DJ” Walker. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 257-6121. The investigation is still ongoing.
