The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents along Highway 36 from A1 to Roxie Peconum, and along Gold Run Road and all areas in between to take precautions in the event that an evacuation warning is issued.
There has been no warning issued by Incident Command at this time but it is always a good idea to be prepared.
A checklist for preparing your property for possible evacuation can be found on Cal Fire’s website https://www.readyforwildfire.org.
- The following ten items are recommended if you have time to gather them in the event of an evacuation:
- Pets
- Identification (including proof of residence in the event that you are evacuating a location different from the one listed on your photo ID)
- Cash and credit cardsImportant documents like birth and marriage certificates, social security cards, property deeds, insurance paperwork, etc.
- Keys to home, vehicles, office, storage units, and safe deposit boxes.
- Any needed medications or medical supplies for you, family members, and pets
- Basic hygiene supplies
- Basic supplies like food, clothing, and jackets for each family member, flashlights, batteries, a hand crank radio and sleeping bags or blankets
- Small electronics and chargers
- Irreplaceable “comfort” items or keepsakes
REMEMBER, YOUR SAFETY COMES FIRST
Although it may be tempting to try and take every last thing with you when ordered to evacuate, remember that your safety and the safety of your family come first.
Don’t put yourself or your family in harm’s way for a few material items.
