In a follow up to a story we reported here (click here for more) Tuesday, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department has tentatively identified the remains discovered near Doyle as a 57-year old man who had been reported missing in 2012.
On Tuesday members of the Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the FBI’s Investigators and Forensic Services Unit, accompanied by doctors and interns from C.S.U. Chico’s Forensic Anthropology division spent the day processing the scene of the located bones.
“After a full day of searching and retrieval, we can confirm that the remains discovered in this case are in fact human bones,” said Sergeant Kevin Jones, “Although the search was severely hampered by snowy conditions, other items of evidence were discovered that will possibly assist in the identification of the person.”
Sergeant Jones said that based on the evidence collected, the department is investigating the possibility of the remains being that of Edgardo Carrera. Although no forensic evidence links the remains to that of Carrera, evidence found at the scene is leading to the possibility the remains are that of Carrera’s.
