Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Two After Homeowner Holds Burglary Suspects at Gunpoint

The owner of a ranch in Wendel held two alleged burglars at gunpoint until Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies could arrive Friday, after the pair of thieves returned to loot her unoccupied residence for a second time.

On May 21st, according to LCSO Sergeant Laura Johnson, the owner of the Skedaddle Ranch called the Sheriff’s Office to report that the vacant home and several outbuildings had been burglarized. A green Dodge Ram, a Suzuki King Quad and a handful of miscellaneous items were reported to have been missing from the property.

The following day the property owner returned to inventory her remaining possessions and discovered that her Dodge Ram had been returned.

As she got closer she observed a man and woman loading up additional items onto a flatbed trailer which also belonged to her.

The ranch owner retrieved a handgun from her vehicle and called 9-1-1, detaining the pair until deputies arrived.

According to the report, when the Sheriff’s Office arrived on-scene they identified the burglary suspects at Gerome Beauchman and his girlfriend, Samantha Swinney.

“While continuing to investigate the crime,” explained Sergeant Johnson, “Samantha informed our deputies that she and Gerome had additional stolen property belonging to the Skedaddle Mountain Ranch at their shared residence in Litchfield.”

With Swinney’s consent and the consent of the property owner in Litchfield the Sheriff’s Office was able to recover several more items belonging to the ranch including the Suzuki King Quad.
