Sheriff’s Deputies investigating a reported break-in at a local mini storage facility arrested two Lassen county residents on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property Monday in Litchfield.
On May 6th, according to LCSO Sergeant Mike Carney, deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office responded to Reece’s Mini Storage in Standish regarding a suspicious vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office had received a report that a vehicle was seen behind the gates to the storage units and a male and female were observed attempting to gain entry to some of the units.
Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle or suspects at the time.
The following day Deputies identified multiple victims of theft from several storage units and began a burglary investigation.
“Through the investigation,” explained Sergeant Carney, “deputies developed vehicle and suspect information and began a search for the suspects.”
On Monday, May 8th, Deputies located the suspect vehicle in Litchfield and initiated an enforcement stop.
When the vehicle stopped in a driveway to a residence, 39-year old Susanville resident Michael Wade Brady was detained on scene. It was determined by deputies that the vehicle that Brady was operating was full of stolen property from the storage units.
Brady was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, driving without a license and violation of probation.
“Deputies believed that additional stolen property could be located at the residence where Brady stopped his vehicle,” said Sergeant Carney. “A search warrant was served at the residence where several more stolen items were recovered.”
Deputies determined that 35-year old Litchfield resident Tina Lynn Chaffee was also involved with the burglary of the storage units, along with Brady. She was arrested on scene and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon thanked the concerned citizens of Lassen County who provided deputies with valuable information regarding this case.
