Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms Hosting April Quilt-In

The Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms and Country Pines Quilt Shop are hosting a Quilt-In April 17th through 19th to support Joshua’s Hands, a nonprofit organization that will take quilt-tops from the event and deliver finished quilts to field hospitals to be given to ill and injured troops.

Joshua’s Hands was started in memory of Joshua Guthrie, who at age 16 was killed in a car accident, and as a legacy the group seeks to encourage  service from grateful hearts. Joshua’s Hands has a five-fold ministry – like the fingers on a hand: Community Service, Scholarships, Young Drivers’ Education, the Annual Fall Festival and Education.

On Friday April 17th, quilters will be working from 10:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. On Saturday Quilt-In hours are 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m., and on Sunday 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Quilts produced for Joshua’s Hands will be 50″ wide by 80″ long with two-inches of variation allowed. Quilters will work with 100% cotton fabric in patriotic colors and themes.

Donations of patriotic fabric, completed quilts or quilt tops and money to cover shipping costs are gladly accepted. If you are unable to attend the Quilt-In you are still welcome to participate by dropping your completed quilt-top off at the Veterans Hall during the event or by contacting 310-2796.

Country Pines Quilt Shop will have patriotic quilt kits and fabric for 30% off, for event participants.

The Blue Star Moms remind you to bring all of your quilting supplies to make your quilt top; sewing machine, fabric, thread, scissors, seam ripper, sewing machine supplies, light, extension cord, rotary cutter and cutting mat and anything you might need. Tables will be set up for quilters along with several ironing boards and irons.

Snacks and water will also be provided for the hard-working quilters.
