The Susanville chapter of Soroptimist International and Lassen College nursing students are working to promote “Girls Leadership through Optimism and Worth,” also known as the GLOW Project, with a special presentation April 12th.
The program, which will be held in the college’s Creative Arts building, is provided as an extension of the student nurses’ pediatric course to provide an opportunity for students to interact and discuss some real-life topics.
Topics covered will include age-appropriate bullying, self-esteem, health topics and building coping mechanisms.
Participants will be placed in age groups with other participants their age.
Parents and guardians are asked to sign their participants in between 3:00 and 3:30p.m., and pick them up between 6:30 and 7:00. Dinner will be provided.

According to organizers the goal of the GLOW project is to connect with the adolescent population and have an open dialogue with them about how these topics may affect them personally, offering ways they can make small changes in their own interactions, hygiene, self-worth and much more.
