A homeschool field trip to the Susanville City Fire Hall on Main Street got some added excitement Thursday when firefighters had to stop the tour and race to a call on Grand Avenue.
Firefighter Andrew Thomas was showing his visitors several of the department’s fire engines, and explaining how the apparatus worked, when a call came in interrupting the tour.
The kids were treated to a lights and sirens demonstration of just how exciting it is when firefighters go to work, waving and cheering as the crew raced off in their engine.
For this particular group of young visitors it might be remembered as the most exciting field trip ever.
