Susanville Man Indicted on Narcotics and Firearms Charges

justicedepartmentA federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment Thursday against 55-year old Susanville resident Courtney Dale Eames, charging him with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen firearms, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

According to court documents, Susanville Police Officers executed search warrants at Eames’s address in September 2016. In the course of the search, the officers found a package of methamphetamine as well as 32 different firearms and several hundred rounds of ammunition.

This case is the product of an investigation by the FBI and the Susanville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Owen Roth is prosecuting the case.

If convicted, Eames faces a maximum statutory penalty of 40 years in prison on the methamphetamine charge and a substantial fine. Any sentence, however, would be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

The charges are only allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
