Susanville Police Seek Identity of Man Found in Paiute Creek

Officers from the Susanville Police Department blocked off North Street near Memorial Park this morning after the discovery of a man’s body in Paiute Creek.

The Susanville Police Department is releasing some details, and seeking to confirm the identity, of a man who was found dead near Paiute Creek close to the North Street bridge Tuesday morning.

The intersection near the tennis courts and Memorial Park was blocked to traffic for a short time as officers surveyed the scene.

According to Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing officers from the department were summoned on the report of a deceased person and upon their arrival they located a white male in his late 50’s or early 60’s near the creek.

The man’s name will not be released by the department until his identity has been confirmed and next of kin has been notified.

“We are very early in our investigation; however there appears to be no obvious signs of trauma to the deceased,” explained Downing, “An autopsy will be scheduled in the near future to attempt to determine cause of death.”

If you have any information about this incident you are encouraged to contact the Susanville Police Department at (530) 257-2171. You may remain anonymous if you wish.
