Susanville Resident Arrested for Attempted Armed Robbery of Local Grocery Store

policeupdate3A Susanville man was taken into custody Saturday evening after allegedly attempting a hold-up at a Main Street grocery store.

At around 9:15p.m. Saturday, according to Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the Susanville Grocery Outlet located at 1616 Main Street after receiving a report that an armed robbery was in progress.

“Upon arriving on scene,” explained Wood, “officers observed a male subject running from the area who was identified by store employees as being the suspect.”

After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was located hiding inside a vehicle on Cornell Street and taken into custody.

The suspect, identified by police as 32 year-old Susanville resident Asa Forte, was booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and held on $40,000 bail. The Susanville Police Department was assisted by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office during the incident.

The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
