Lassen Family Services Parenting Group Classes. Reduce the chaos and power struggles; learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. “Positive Parenting with a Plan,” by Matthew A. Johnson, Psy. D., MSW, helps parents establish order and structure in the home, including rewards and positive consequences that work! Designed as a 12-week program, group and individualized instruction is provided on an on-going basis. Group classes are held Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Speakers such as Dr. Laura Markham will be discussing “Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: Help Kids WANT to Cooperate Without Yelling, Threats, Bribes, or Punishments.” Also Angela Russ- Ayon, who will be discussing “Don’t Just Bore Them: Explore Your Creative Side”. The Susanville Fire Department in cooperation with SEMSA and the Lassen County Health Department will be hosting a community CPR and First Aid class at the Susanville Fire Hall on March 30th. The class starts at 8:00a.m. and will last approximately 6-hours with a half hour lunch break. This course is intended for the general public and will not meet professional rescuer requirements. If you or anyone you know would like to learn this lifesaving skill or have any questions please call the Susanville Fire Department at 530-257-5152. The class size is limited to 30 people and cost for participants is $17 each.

Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon Live Art Event: Brush Off. Brush Off: a live art event featuring up to 8 local artists, each creating an outdoors, wildlife or landscape-themed masterpiece within a 90-minute time limit. It’s your chance to watch them work and to bid on their paintings. You could take home an original. Each ticket gets you a glass of wine, beer or soda and a vote for the painting you like most.
