On April 24, 2014 at approximately 12:57 pm in the parking lot of the CDC at Herlong Army depot, Charlene Norvell gave birth to her infant son Asher Eli Norvell. She was 26 weeks gestation at time of birth. She was assisted by fellow employees until Sierra Army Depot emergency response personnel and REMSA arrived on scene. Both, Charlene and Asher were transported to Renown.
Charlene had to receive a blood transfusion due to hemorrhaging. Asher was admitted to the NICU department, where he has undergone multiple procedures including heart ligation surgery, bronchoscopies and suffered two bouts of pneumonia. Due to paralyzed vocal cords, Asher will have a tracheostomy placed on 7-16-14 and in the future a feeding tube will be inserted into his stomach. Asher has already spent 82 days in the NICU and will continue his stay at Renown for many more months.
Baby Asher has big brother Landon who’s 23 months, supporting him as well.
On July 23rd, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., there will be a Taco Dinner Fundraiser at the Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel in the Willow Room. Tickets are $10 per person or $35 for a family of 4 ($7 more per person after the 4th person). Pre-sale tickets are available at the Susanville Napa Auto Parts. There will be a raffle during the coarse of the dinner, many of the items being donated are from local businesses and individuals. Tickets for the raffle will be available for sale at the door.
