The Lassen County Arts Council has announced the winners of People’s Choice awards for their Art of Wild Horses installation. Local businesses, organizations and individuals put on their creative hats and went to work decorating wooden horse cutouts that were displayed next to the Livestock Pavilion during the Lassen County Fair.
Attendees of the fair were invited to pick their favorites, with over 1,000 votes tallied in the two categories.
“Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit the display and vote.” said Board Member Roxanna Haynes, “The feedback and response to our community art event was amazing and we’ll definitely bring it back next year.”
Crowd favorites were Mt. Lassen Properties, Lassen Land & Trails Trust, Suzanne’s Ultimate Salon, US Bank and Buttercream the Unicorn for Susanville Supermarket.
According to the Arts Council the People’s Choice Award for the Rising Stallion was decided by only 7 votes. U.S. Bank will take home the big prize but Mt. Lassen Properties was given honorary mention for coming in so close.
Crowd favorites for the racing mustangs included Eagle Lake Marina and Campground, Every Bloomin’ Thing, JDX/KSUE and The Apple Inn.
The People’s Choice award in the racing mustang category goes to the Stubbs Family.
