Three Susanville residents have been arrested in connection with a Monday morning burglary at a grocery store in the 1600 block of Main Street.
According to Lieutenant Matt Wood, officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the Susanville Grocery Outlet On May 5th, at around 9:00a.m., on the report that a burglary that had just occurred. Officers were advised that three suspects had fled the store with a shopping cart full of stolen items valued at approximately $290.00 and employees were pursuing them on foot.
One of the suspects, 18 year-old Susanville resident James Dilley, was located and detained at Riverside Park by a Lassen County Deputy Sheriff. Dilley was taken into custody and booked into the Lassen County Jail for second degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance. Dilley was held on $30,000 bail.
A short time later, at around 11:00a.m., officers again responded to the area after store employees reported that one of the suspects had returned to the store. Officers contacted 37 year-old Susanville resident Kasey Hoffman and took him into custody without incident.
Hoffman was booked into the Lassen County Jail for second degree burglary, making terrorist threats towards a store employee and violation of parole. Bail for Hoffman was set at $30,000, but he was held on a parole hold.
Several hours later, at about 2:00 Monday afternoon, officers from the department were called to the area of Main Street and the River Inn after being advised that the third suspect was walking around the area. Officers contacted 28 year-old Susanville resident Herman Shepard and took him into custody without incident.
Shepard was booked into the Lassen County Jail for second degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being was held on $22,500 bail.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
