Today, May 8th, is National Student Nurse Day, a part of National Nurses Week. The day honors student nurses as they pursue a career in medicine.
Nurse Day proposed in 1953 by Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health and while a proclamation never came National Nurse Week was observed the following year.
National Student Nurse Day was established by the American Nurses Association to recognizes student nurses in 1998.
