Two Arrested After Traffic Stop Yields Fentanyl and Paraphernalia

Two people were arrested Thursday evening after Susanville Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration near Riverside Drive and Safeway and discovered nearly 25 grams of Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

The driver was identified by the Susanville Police Department as 46-year-old Litchfield resident Robert Fitzgerald, and his passenger, 38-year-old Susanville resident Ashlee Richardson.

“While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, an officer could see drug paraphernalia behind the driver’s seat on the floor,” explains Interim Chief of Police Michael Bollinger.

Evidence seized by police during Thursday evening’s traffic stop

Susanville Police K-9 Zeke was employed in searching the vehicle.

“Zeke alerted on the passenger side of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in approximately 16.7 grams of suspected Fentanyl found in the front seat area. Officers located approximately 8.8 grams of suspected Fentanyl on the person of Mr. Fitzgerald.”

According to Bollinger both subjects were arrested for Possession for Sale of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fitzgerald was also arrested for Violation of Probation. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
