Calling tonight the “warmest night of the week,” forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have extended a Heat Advisory for Lassen, eastern Plumas, and eastern Sierra Counties along with Surprise Valley, Fort Bidwell, Sierraville, Loyalton, Portola, Cedarville, Eagleville, Westwood, and Susanville.
The Heat Advisory will now be in effect until 9:00a.m. tomorrow morning.
Hot daytime temperatures in the 90s to around 100 through will result in a prolonged period of Moderate to Major HeatRisk and heat health impacts for those sensitive to heat or
those without access to effective cooling.
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during heat events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
The warmest night of the week will be tonight, as moisture arrives and cloud cover limits cooling.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave children and pets in unattended vehicles.
