Weather Bulletin: More Heavy Snow Expected Over the Next 24 Hours

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory, in effect from this morning at 10:00 until Wednesday morning at 10:00 above 5,000 feet.

This storm warning is for Lassen County, along with eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties, including the cities of Westwood, Susanville, Portola, Loyalton and Sierraville.

Above 5,000 feet, heavy snow is expected with additional snow accumulations up to 6 inches. Winds will be gusting as high as 50mph.

Travel could be very difficult, especially across Fredonyer pass. Expect sudden changes in weather conditions from one hour to the next. Prepare for longer commute times and possible travel delays.

Heavy snow will continue through the morning, followed by a break in snowfall until this evening. Afterward, periods of heavy snow will start again tonight and continue through Wednesday morning.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
