Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory, in effect from 11:00a.m. Saturday until 8:00a.m. Sunday, above 5,000 feet here in Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.
Weather experts are expecting snow accumulations from 1 to 4 inches above 5,000 feet with snow amounts to 5 to 9 inches above 7,000 feet.
Winds will be gusting as high as 55mph with gusts to 70mph for higher ridgetops.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines.
Those traveling over higher Sierra passes and recreating in the Sierra back country should be prepared for late season wintry conditions at times overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning.
Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1 in Nevada, and calling CALTRANS 1-800-427-7623 in California.
Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
