Weather Bulletin: Winter Weather Advisory Goes into Effect Early Saturday

Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the majority of the upcoming weekend as snow accumulations of up to four inches are expected here in Susanville on the valley floor, and up to ten inches in the mountains.

The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 7:00a.m. Saturday until 4:00a.m. Sunday.

Weather experts expect accumulations up to four inches in valley locations across the region with 5 to 10 inches in the mountains.

Highest snowfall rates and totals will be near, and west, of Highway 89.

Winds will be gusting as high as 50mph at points during the storm.

Travel could be very difficult due to near whiteout conditions in snow and blowing snow. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Be prepared for travel delays or adjust your travel plans to avoid periods of heavy snow and white out conditions. The latest road conditions can be found by checking with CalTrans.
