Westwood Chamber Announces Paul Bunyan Festival Parade Grand Marshals

The Westwood Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for its big, annual Paul Bunyan Mountain and Blues Festival on Saturday, July 10th, and the organization has announced that Fred and Sheri Binswanger will be Grand Marshals for the event parade.

According to the Chamber, this dynamic duo has selflessly served the community of Westwood for nearly fifty years. They married in 1973 after meeting on the Chester football field while Sheri was a cheer advisor in Chester and Fred was the Westwood High School football coach. Their only son, Karl was born in 1977 and graduated from Westwood High School.

Fred and Sheri will lead the parade which begins at 10:30a.m. at 3rd and Ash streets.

The weekend begins Friday night with a downtown street dance featuring one of northeastern California’s premiere cover bands, local favorites Forgery. The dance is free and starts at 8:00p.m. in front of the railroad depot.

Saturday’s fun activities include Breakfast Booths at 8:00a.m. in the Community Center, a Fun Run and the parade.

Festival gates open at 11:00a.m. in Westwood Park, Greenwood and 2nd streets, and will feature a logging show, antiques, crafts, collectibles, a kids area, games and Blue Ox Bingo.

There will also be Pickle Ball on the tennis courts and, food booths and more.

Two bands will be providing some awesome blues music for the afternoon; Rowland and Tumblin’ from noon until 2:00 and the Jason King Band from 2:30 to 4:30.
