Why We Love This Place Wednesday: Lindsey Champieux

By Terra Avilla

On the rare occasion that I am not whisked away from one activity to the next and I can actually watch my children practice at their sporting events, one of my favorite things to do is to bond with the other mommas.

One momma in particular, I have known for a long time, however never really got to know until our kiddos were placed on the same soccer team. That momma is Lindsey Champieux.

If you have a kiddo at McKinley that I’m sure you are all familiar with Lindsey. She is a very involved and dedicated mother who has taken on the role of P.T.A president.

This position not only helps her support and assist her own child’s learning environment, but those of the entire school, and I know that improving and creating an exciting learning environment for all kiddos is something that is important to her.

Aside from the many hats she wears acting at the PTA President, Lindsey is deeply involved in our local soccer world and serves on the board of Lassen Youth Soccer. Lindsey’s involvement also extends to Top Soccer, a program aimed at fostering a love for soccer in all children.

Her commitment to these organizations highlights her dedication to providing enriching experiences for children both in and out of the classroom.

It’s clear that Lindsey just wants to help kids. At the soccer games, even though her own son absolutely dominated on the field, and it would have been so easy for her to simply cheer for him, Lindsey made a consistent point to cheer for all the kids. All of them.

I would hear cheer their name just as much if not more than she cheered for Dylan. It made me happy because I knew that if I couldn’t make it to a game, Peach would have Lindsey there cheering her on.

Despite having her act together, and always being on top of it. Lindsey never makes me feel bad because I am never on top of it. For example, at their banquet for awards, in true Lindsey fashion she saw that I was not taking pictures of Peach getting her award and without hesitation snapped them for me and sent them without being asked. She just has good intentions and is a good person.

I have a huge spot in my heart for anyone in our community that sees an area, or organization, which is struggling or sees a need and just steps in to help. Lindsey is one of those people. Not a complainer, not a nay sayer, simply someone who says, “I can help make this better” and then steps up and does so.

We are lucky to have people like her in our community and I am lucky to know her. Keep going Lindsey! You are one of the reasons I love where we live.
