Why We Love This Place Wednesday: Miss Lassen County Chalise Robbins

By Terra Avilla

Chalise Robbins, our reigning Miss Lassen County, embodies the spirit of community service that makes our county so special. Crowned in 2023, this one of a kind, seventeen-year-old has been making waves and warming hearts throughout her reign.

She clearly has a passion for helping others and making a difference in the community. For example, Chalise has spent the last year spending countless hours to church activities.

Her tireless commitment to faith-based programs – from running food drives to working with the youth group – exemplifies the strength of her own faith.

You go to any social event and there she is with that iconic smile, but my favorite place to see Chalise is at the pool. This is because she teaches swimming to children. The kids love her, and she loves them.

Chalise has a talent for reassuring nervous beginners. I know this, because Peach was one of them. She develops a good rapport with the kids, and she smiles all the way through the class. You would never guess how young she is. She is genuinely devoted to making their time in the water as fun as possible.

Though her reign is almost complete, Chalise is still helping and is volunteering to help the current Miss Lassen County competitors for their upcoming pageant. I personally have seen her at the practices, just as bubbly and kind as can be.

A special shout-out goes to the entire Miss Lassen County court for their year-long dedication to serving the community. Alongside Chalise, Princess Sofia Bennett and Ambassadress Hayley Trevizu have been amazing community champions throughout this incredible journey.

Together, they have represented Lassen County with grace and enthusiasm, participating in various community events and leaving a positive impact wherever they went. Their commitment to service and their support for one another have truly exemplified the spirit of the Miss Lassen County program.

As a mother to three little girls, I cannot think of three “big” girls that are better role models for my daughters. I don’t say that lightly.

Please come and support the Miss Lassen County pageant tonight (Wednesday) at the Lassen County Fair. It is a great opportunity to get out and support our local young women and to witness the passing of the crown.

Anyone who witnessed the excellence of Chalise Robbins in winning the $1,000 scholarship and the year of service she has been called to believes that the bar has been set high.

I hope you will join us in celebrating her accomplishments and the naming of next year’s Miss Lassen County.
