Twinkling lights, chaotic holiday displays, even a massive light show carefully synchronized to music – it’s all part of one of Susanville’s favorite holiday traditions, the Lassen County Fairgrounds’ annual Festival of Lights.
For fifteen years now the brilliant display of lights at the fairgrounds has been created by some dedicated individuals, local groups and organizations for people to drive through and enjoy. The amazing wonderland magically appears at the fairgrounds each year just in time for the holidays, with displays that are expected to be bigger, brighter and more awe-inspiring than the year before.
Vehicles enter the Jensen Hall entrance, driving through a variety of outdoor displays as they pass through the fairgrounds.
The Fair also features a display of community decorated Christmas trees at the marquee on Main Street. The beautiful trees decorate the entrance of town, welcoming travelers throughout the holiday season.
How Can You Be a Part of the Holiday Fun?
You could provide, and decorate, a live, cut, tree that would go in one of the nine spaces by the Fair Marquee on Main Street, or you could put together a Christmas display (use your imagination) to go along the midway, where almost 900 vehicles drive through each December.
Opening night will be Friday, December 4th and the fair plans to have the midway open for viewing for 16-nights this year, through Christmas Day.
