The City of Susanville’s new Community Garden Project is in need of a logo and the city is asking talented local 6th to 12th graders to submit their artwork. There will be three prizes given out and the committee’s three top picks will be announced at the garden’s opening April 21st.
Susanville’s community garden is intended to be a direct link to both seniors and youth while being a locally sponsored, operating center of food production that can generate a wealth of other benefits – particularly on the sustainable spectrum in regards to ecological, economic, and social values.
The community garden, on Ash Street in Susanville is designed to, “connect both seniors and youth and establish a designated place to sustainably and responsibly grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, and other edible and consumable plants within our city limits.”
The garden, according to organizers, can help Susanville community members become more self-sufficient, independent, and interested in being involved in their city.
Please submit your logo artwork at Margie’s Book Nook in uptown Susanville by April 6th. First place wins a $50 gift certificate, second place wins a $25 certificate and third place earns a $10 certificate, all from Margie’s Book Nook.
