John (Ed) Edwin Hacker – February 18, 1931 – March 18, 2021

John (Ed) Edwin Hacker passed away on March 18, 2021, at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, California.

He was born in Ensley, Alabama on February 18, 1931, to Charles S. Hacker and Myrtle C. Hacker nee Martin.

John loved the high desert and enjoyed the country life. He was a Christian man, living by his conservative ideals, beliefs, and values. He came from humble beginnings and was a self-made man and jack of all trades. During his lifetime he enjoyed a variety of activities and hobbies. He was a pilot, worked with leather, wood and metal. He taught himself to play the guitar and he had a lifelong love of horses. He enjoyed trail riding and training them.

John served his country in the US Army as a military policeman. He served his community as a patrolman and sergeant with the Menlo Park Police Department. In 1989 he retired and moved to Susanville, California.

John is survived by his wife, Wanda of Janesville, California, his son Gary Hacker (Debbie) of Manteca, California, and his daughter Lindie Melson of Sacramento, California. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was entered into rest at Diamond Crest Cemetery, Veteran’s Section, in Susanville, California.
