A Round Mountain man suffered moderate injuries after the 2006 Toyota Corolla he was driving slammed into the rear of a travel trailer near Milford on U.S. 395 early Sunday evening.
According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, 55 year-old Napa resident David Tripp was driving his 2004 GMC Pickup towing a travel trailer northbound on U.S. 395 near Deer Trail Road and was slowing while preparing to turn left on to Lounsbury Lane.
At the same time 58 year-old Round Mountain resident Girard Klapatch was driving his 2006 Toyota northbound behind Tripp and failed to notice the pickup/trailer combination slowing to turn and subsequently collided with the rear of the travel trailer.
Neither Tripp or his passenger, 56 year-old Napa resident Martha Tripp, were injured in the collision. Klapatch suffered moderate injuries and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence.
Klapatch’s Toyota received major damage while Tripp’s vehicles received moderate damage.
