City of Susanville: Part-Time Economic Development Assistant
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Economic Development Assistant position is a part-time position that reports directly to the Economic Development Director and performs assigned administrative tasks for the Economic Development Department. The position demands the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, showcasing adaptability, versatility, and meticulous attention to detail. The ideal Economic Development Assistant should embody a positive attitude, exhibit a genuine enthusiasm for the city of Susanville’s growth, and possess exceptional communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the development and maintenance of material for business recruitment and marketing packets, including information on available properties; provides site location assistance to prospective businesses; responds to inquiries from brokers; maintains working knowledge of local industrial, office, and retail real estate sites for sale or lease.
- Assists in general awareness, tourism and business recruitment marketing efforts; assist in updating and posting information on the city website; tracks effectiveness and results of various campaigns; assists with preparation of incentive packages/proposal for prospective businesses; assists with implementation of efforts to improve the city attractiveness to target industries.
- Responds to public and internal inquiries, provides information, resolves routine complaints, or refers questions to appropriate staff.
- Participates in the preparation, update, and maintenance of elements of Economic Development Plans.
- Attends meetings with city personnel and/or outside agencies, council meetings, or seminars as required. May engage in public speaking for certain presentations.
- Conducts research to gather data on city statistics or demographics for internal and external use.
- Responsible for the overall front office activities, as assigned, which may include clerical staff, mail, large purchasing requests, and facilities; reviews clerical staff work and maintains specialized records of departmental operational activities.
- Compiles, edits, and summarizes data and prepares routine/periodic/special reports, memoranda, letters, forms, and various other documents; creates and maintains databases using automated information systems to monitor and track information.
- Create and maintain business marketing website and maintain various forms of business marketing materials;
- Assists in the preparation of marketing materials such as informational flyers, newsletters, radio advertisements, etc.
- Answers the telephone, interviews callers, and follows specific guidelines in providing information and referring to proper parties;
- Prepare and edit documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos, and emails;
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements;
- Assist in preparing and distributing agendas for meetings, as well as managing meeting schedules;
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system including records of grant awards and final reports from grant recipients;
- Perform other duties as required.
Salary and Qualifications:
SALARY:
This position is classified as a part-time employee. Hourly Range: $26.01 – $29.43/hour placement within this range is dependent on qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Qualifications:
⢠Two yearsā increasingly responsible administrative or clerical experience, involving frequent contact with the public.
⢠Three yearsā experience in community or economic development related field.
Preferred Education Qualifications:
⢠Associate degree in business, communications, government, economics or closely related field
Required Licenses/Certificates:
⢠Valid California Driverās License
⢠High School Diploma or GED equivalentĀ
