Plumas County Lightning Fires: Community Meeting Wednesday Evening

There will be a community meeting to discuss the various lightning fires around the Keddie Ridge/North Arm and Taylorsville areas of Indian Valley. The meeting will be held at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, August 21st at the Taylorsville Grange Hall.

Current Fire Situation: The Ridge grew in size to 275 and is still at 0% containment. The Heights Fire is at 162 acres and is 30% contained. The Johnson, remains at 140 acres with 95% containment. The Hunt stayed at 11 acres and is still at 50% containment. The Keddie, at 18 acres, the Mountain and the Ruby at 1 acre each are 100% contained. The 32 and Cook, both under an acre are also 100% contained. A new fire, the Evans at 2 acres, materialized yesterday and was contained.

Fuel Type: Shrub, oak and timber

Evacuations: The mandatory evacuations of Arlington Road, between Nelson St and Johnson Ranch Road have been lifted.

Remarks: Central Coast Interagency Incident Team 7 took command of the complex yesterday (August 20, 2013) morning. Good progress was made last night on the various fires although a new start was discovered yesterday due to “sleepers” flaring up as temperatures and winds increased. The forecast for thunderstorms today means that fire conditions will be dynamic as crews stay on high alert for potential changes in fire behavior and weather related hazards.

A community meeting is scheduled for today, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm. The location for the community meeting will be at the Community Center Grange Hall at Taylorsville.
