Susanville Ski Club Frolic at Williards Sunday
March 20, 1939


Plans for the Susanville Ski Club Frolic will be held Sunday afternoon, March 12, at Willards from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. Ski events have been arranged for members of the club and members of the High School Ski Club. Members and their guests are invited to attend.

The schedule of events is as follows: 11:30, downhill race of one mile for men; 2 p. m. quarter mile cross country run for children of grammar school age; 2:30 the women’s downhill race! 3 p. m. men’s slalom. Between races there will be demonstrations of the different turns from instructors.

An $8 pair of ski poles, given by Bantley0Jensen Hardware store, will be awarded to the man who is the winner of the men’s downhill and slalom races. For the best high school Ski Club member a medal and a membership card to the Susanville Ski Club will be given.

The prizes for the children’s race will be a box of candy for the first boy to cross the finish line and another box of candy for the first girl. These boxes of Candy are being donated by the Spalding Drug Company and the Lassen Drug Company.

A ski jacket, donated by Wemple’s Clothing Store will be given to the winner of the women’s downhill race.

The club will furnish coffee, chocolate and doughnuts. It is suggested that members wishing to stay all day bring a lunch.

Roy North is chairman of the tournament committee, while Helen Honsberger is chairman of the social committee.
