Two Las Vegas residents had some scary moments on Highway 36 near Riverbench road Tuesday afternoon when , for unknown reasons, their vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole, coming to rest on its side.
Both driver and passenger, who according to the CHP were wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck, were uninjured – despite the fact that the 2002 Chevy S-10 pickup struck the utility pole with enough force to sheer it off at the base.
After striking the pole the pickup overturned and came to rest on its left side blocking the westbound lane of the highway.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
